Nearly 30,000 Low-Cost Houses On Sale at 10th Housing Fair

Manila, Philippines—The Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), together with housing-related government agencies such as Pag-IBIG Fund, Home Guaranty Corporation (HGC), Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB), National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC), National Housing Authority (NHA), and Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and Social Security System (SSS) held their 10th Housing Fair, which offered nearly 30,000 low-cost houses to the public at SM Megamall’s Megatrade Hall 1 on October 16-18.

Joseph Ejercito Estrada, former Philippine president and current Manila mayor, cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony, where HUDCC also recognized the mayor’s “no demolition without relocation” campaign in the city government of Manila. Under his watch, two private lands, Benito Legarda Estate and Encarnacion Lao Santos Estate, were awarded to actual occupants.

Besides the government agencies, participants from the banking sector, private developers, and the people behind property search website PropertyAsia.ph also offered their products and services to the huge number of attendees comprising homebuyers and property brokers/agents.

Anchored on the theme “Disenteng Pabahay, Maunlad na Buhay, the 10th Housing Fair also held an on-the-spot painting contest participated by 26 fine arts students from the University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, Philippine Women’s University, Technological University of the Philippines, Far Eastern University, College of the Holy Spirit, De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, and the University of the East, which brought home the Grand Prize, plus P25,000.

The judges of the painting contest included Eurocino Gamboa, a realist mural and portrait artist; Danilo Pangan who served as a member of the executive council of the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCAA); and Engr. Juanito Eje, vice-president and acting senior vice-president of Pag-IBIG Fund Business Development Sector.
