By virtue of the Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A, issued on November 17, 1966, the month of March, where a record number of fire incidents occur, is declared the “Fire Prevention Month.”
According to Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), faulty electrical wiring, lit cigarette butts, and open flames from unattended stoves are the top three causes of fire. Last year alone, BFP recorded more than 14,000 fire incidents nationwide, resulting in the deaths of 304 civilians and destroying P7.8 billion worth of property. BFP also reported an average of nine fire incidents happening every day across the country. Together with firefighters, public servants, various NGOs, and volunteers, BFP is encouraging every Filipino to be responsible in keeping their own household safe from fire by organizing month-long activities advocating for an increased fire prevention awareness.
PropertyAsia.ph, in support of the “Fire Prevention Month,” has created an interactive digital fire station map to help everyone to find the fire stations nearest to them. That way, you can save their emergency numbers, keep them handy, and be prepared for any unforeseen events.
