Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.  It’s the time of the year when the ladies receive flowers and chocolates and enjoy romantic dinner dates with their beaus.

But what if you’re single?

For some people, it’s the perfect time to organize an “I Hate Valentine’s Day” party or simply get home from work, order pizza, and watch TV all by yourself while contemplating why you’re still single.

But why let yourself be overcome by sorrow?  There are more productive things that you can do to celebrate Valentine’s Day, especially at home.

  • Cook for your family.

You may not get the fancy ambiance in a fine dining restaurant, but you can prepare dinner for yourself or your family without spending a fortune.  Make it a little more special by cooking something you don’t usually cook for your loved ones. After all, your family is really special and close to your heart.

  • Catch up on your favorite TV series, especially the episodes you may have missed.

Better yet, watch your favorite TV series with some of your girlfriends; order some takeout.

It’s going to be a great bonding experience!

  • “Spa” with your girlfriends.

It’s perfectly OK to treat yourself and your girlfriends with a little “spa day.” As a matter of fact, some spa establishments offer home service.

  • Organize an all-singles party.

You can host a house party, where every invited guest must tag along a single friend.  It’s a great way to expand your network of friends and find a potential partner for you and your friends.

  • Dive into a good book.

Reading a good book can make things a whole lot better, too. Read something you love or a new novel you haven’t finished yet.

Valentine’s Day is not only for lovers, couples, and married people; this special day is for everyone to spread a little love.

Begin at home, among your family and friends.
