Manila, Philippines—In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), property developer Rockwell Land Corporation announced Thursday, June 2, the planned developments of Aruga Hotels, luxury resorts that will be built at Rockwell Center in Makati and on Mactan Island in Cebu.

The announcement came days after the developer reported a P342 million net income during the first quarter of the year with its hotel business generating income of P90 million, 42 percent higher from last year’s P64 million.

To be completed by the first half of 2019, the 280-room urban resort-themed Aruga Hotel in Makati will feature a 1,400-seater ballroom, specialty restaurants, a fitness gym, an executive lounge, and meeting rooms.

On the other hand, set on 11 acres facing the Hilutingan Channel, the 300-room resort with private villas on Mactan Island in Cebu will feature sky suites on its upper floors with panoramic views of its 250 meter beachfront.

Nestor Padilla, president and CEO of Rockwell Land, said, “The strong interest from our roster of investors and partners to roll out new ventures outside Metro Manila is evidence of not only the strength of Rockwell’s hotel and leisure business but also reflects our collective vision to develop prime tourist locations like Mactan Island as the country experiences a tourism renaissance.”
