Questions to Ponder When Decluttering Your Home

Let’s face it: Clutter fills our homes from the basement to the attic. Our closets are even jam-packed with clothes we seldom use that we can barely close the door.

But before you grab those two garbage bags: one for the things you’ll toss, the other for the things you’ll keep, think twice and reflect on these things:

  1. Did I use this last year?

Impulsive shoppers usually visit a store to go window shopping then splurge on things they never really need.

Before you buy that thing that catches your eye, ask yourself first if that item will be useful to you.  If not, don’t buy it in the first place. It has no place in your home.

  1. Am I holding onto this for sentimental reasons?

If you hold onto things from the past because it gives you joy and brings back wonderful memories, then that item should be kept.

  1. Will I ever use this?

How many times have you saved or stored something because you thought someday you may need it? If time has passed and you never touched or enjoyed that particular thing, then this is the perfect time to get rid of it.

  1. Does it fit me or my living space?

Our living space is sacred and we want only those items that are beautiful and those that bring us joy. And if an item in your home does not meet this criterion, it’s certainly time to part with it.
