Without sunshine, going out can be risky and unexciting. With the heavy gush of rain outside, the only thing you may want to do is lie in bed and watch the raindrops fall. However, staying inside the house when it’s raining can be really boring. No matter how much you want to have fun with your friends outside, you’ll still prefer to stay at home because of the heavy rain. Nonetheless, you can still have fun and become productive while at home. Here are some things you can do at home in a rainy day.

  1. Read a Book

You don’t have to be a geek or a bookworm to appreciate the bliss of reading books especially on a cold rainy day. Since the rain is often associated with loneliness and depression, grabbing your favorite paperback will divert your attention into something interesting and meaningful.

  1. Cook your favorite meal

Staying at home and just lying in bed can make you feel hungry. Thus, cooking your favorite meal is a nice way to uplift yourself and treat your taste buds. Since you can’t dine outside, cooking at home is the best alternative and you can also learn new recipes that you haven’t tried before.

  1. Watch a Movie

Watching a movie on rainy days may be a cliché. Still, it’s one of the most wonderful ways to enjoy and survive the loneliness that the season brings. Whether you’re alone or not, watching a movie won’t fail to entertain you.

  1. Play Board Games with Your Family

Rainy days are one of the best times to spend with your family. Have a quality time together and play different board games like scrabble and monopoly. This simple bonding with your family can make your rainy season fun and worthwhile.

  1. Invite your Friends for a House Party

Though you can’t go outside, you can still have fun with your friends. Invite them over, bake some cookies. and serve them tea. You can also play some video games with them, cook together, or just chat while eating some goodies. Don’t let the rainy season keep you away from your friends by staying at home and sleeping all day.

  1. Have an Indoor Date with your Special Someone

Apart from loneliness, the rainy season also speaks of romance. Get up from your bed and invite your partner for a date; apparently not in a fancy restaurant but simply inside your cozy house. Make the ambiance romantic and cook for your special someone. Indoor date is very romantic and intimate; it’s also a good way to show your partner that you think about him or her.

  1. Do some Crafts or Recycle Old Items

The rainy season is the perfect time to be crafty. Do some DIY (Do IT Yourself) projects that will show your hidden creativity. They can be home decors, kitchenware, organizers, or baby or pet items. Be resourceful and recycle old items so you don’t have to spend much. After all, some DIY materials can be expensive, so it’s always smart to recycle.

  1. Get a Massage

You must be tired from the myriad activities during the summer. Now that the rainy season has arrived, it’s time to relax and give your body a break. Get a massage while you’re not busy with anything. This will not only help you loosen up, but it will also take away your worries and anxieties.

  1. Exercise

You may feel lazy about going to the gym and working out because of the weather. Nonetheless, you can still work out in the comfort of your home. If you have some exercise equipment at home, such as treadmill and yoga ball, you can still exercise and invigorate yourself despite the bad weather.

  1. Lastly, Chat and Reconnect with Old Friends

One thing that can ease your boredom is surfing the Internet. Though it’s raining and you don’t have all the energy to socialize, you can still do it by using various social media channels or messaging applications  such as Skype, Whatsapp, Viber, WeChat and Line. Using the Internet, you can reach out to your old friends or relatives abroad. Have a chat with them so you can make it up to them for those times you couldn’t talk because you were busy.
