Today is Ash Wednesday, which ushers in the 40-day Lenten Season.

By Trisha Mendoza

Home is the most private place where we reveal our real selves and make mistakes, where we say sorry and get second chances; it’s where we forgive and love.  It’s also at home where our families founded our faith in God.

Home is the best place to commemorate Lent because it binds us together with the love within the family, which has remained steadfast amidst life’s challenges and trials.

In a Catholic household, home is the place where family members pray the rosary together, or where children were read their first Bible stories.

This Lenten Season, make God the center of your homes, which could strengthen your faith and your family members’ relationship with each other.

“We all suffer for each other, and gain by each other’s suffering; for man never stands alone here, though he will stand alone hereafter; but here he is a social being, and goes forward to his long home as one of a large company.” – Cardinal John Henry Newman
